The tech4stampers blog hop for April is to showcase a card made with squares. I decided mine would be made with some of the retiring products. The stamp set Nature’s Prints is not retiring but the bundle will go away so you lose the 10% discount. Even though the stamp set is returning the beautiful designer series paper, Sun Prints, is not. Stampin’ Up! almost always retires the DSP although occasionally they will carry one over to the next catalog. I used Pacific Point (retiring) as my main color. Pacific Point is a beautiful blue and I am sad to see it go away but there are some awesome new blues.
The card base is Pacific Point cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″. The next layer is Basic White cut to 5 3/8″ x 4 1/8″ just to add a little border. The next layer is Pacific Point cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″. I used the Sun Prints designer series paper to cut my 1 1/4″ squares. I had to find the center of the Pacific Point piece. It is at 2″ on the short side and 2 5/8″ on the long side. I drew a vertical line down the center of the Pacific Point piece. My first one was a little off and I thought what the heck it will not matter – well yes it was very lopsided. I had to start over. I glued the first square in the middle of the piece and added on from there. The four pieces on the ends were trimmed after I attached them. After it dried a bit I embossed the whole piece with one of folders from the On Line Exclusives. I stamped the sentiment from the Nature’s Print set in Pacific Point and die cut it with the Stylish Shapes dies. I attached it to the front with dimensionals. For the inside I stamped the fern stamp using Pacific Point. It was really a quick and easy card if you don’t count that I had to make a second one because my center was off a bit.

Diane, The link on the blog hope didn’t work, so I had to do a search for your website. Lovely card – looks like paper quilting! Great use of retiring DSP. Tfs.
Thank you Elaine for your comments on my card. Sorry about the link not working. I realized it as soon as the blog hop went live but didn’t see a way to correct but the linky was still open so I added it to the bottom. Thank you for searching and I will try to do better next time.
Beautiful card. I love the idea of embossing after the squares are attached, thank you.
Thank you Carol!
I too will miss Pacific Point! Great use of squares!
Thank you Barbara!
