Carved Wood Technique

Sunflower Thank You Cards – July Orders

I wish I could say this technique was all mine, but credit goes to several inspiring demos who shared variations of this idea. I used it to create the thank you cards for my July orders — you can see the whole batch below!

It was a fun (albeit slightly messy) process. I started by embossing Basic White cardstock with the Sunflower 3D Embossing Folder. Then came the swiping — I lightly put on layers of Crumb Cake, Pecan Pie, Cajun Craze, and Early Espresso, in that order.

To bring the flowers and leaves to life, I used sponge daubers to add color: Crushed Curry, Timid Tiger, and Mossy Meadow added just the right amount of warmth and depth.

The sentiment was stamped in Early Espresso on Timid Tiger with the Coneflower Celebrations stamp set.. It was die cut with the Stylish Shapes Dies. The die cut piece was wrapped with Linen thread and put on with dimesionals.

The inside is a piece of 5 x 3 1/2 Basic White. It is stamped like the card front with a 3/4″ embossed piece of Timid Tiger at the bottom.

Just a reminder that I have a monthly card Club called Club Dazzle, and the theme for August is Perfectly Pears. You can join by signing up before August 20th. It is a recurring club, but you can drop it at any time. Check it out by clicking here.
