I belong to a wonderful group of stampers that participates in a monthly blog hop. The theme for September was Embossing, and I knew right away I wanted to use the 3D Sunflower Embossing Folder for my card—what do you think? I’ll be so sad when this one eventually retires!
This embossing folder is one of my favorites because it’s so versatile. You can emboss with solid cardstock, two-toned cardstock, or even vellum for a softer look. After embossing, there are so many ways to bring the design to life—try sponge daubers, blending brushes, or even the direct-to-ink technique.
If you’d like to see another example of how I used this folder with a different coloring technique, you can check out my previous blog post here.
So here are my instructions for my blog hop card:
- Score a piece of Blueberry Bushel that’s cut to 5 1/2″ X 8 1/2″ at 4 1/4″.
- Cut Granny Apple Green to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and a piece of Granny Apple Green Two-Toned cardstock to 4″ x 5 1/4″.
- Run the two-toned piece thru the Stampin Cut & Die machine using the 3D Sunflower embossing folder. Then sand it – I used a nail block. Sand as much or as little as you like. Adhere the two green pieces to the cardfront.
- Stamp the birthday image from Charming Day on Basic White using Blueberry Bushel ink. using the smallest two dies from Branching Out to cut out the sentiment piece and a Blueberry Bushel piece.
- Adhere these two die cuts together at a angle . Pop them up with dimensionals. Embellish!
