Today I am going to teach you how to make this card using the #scrappystrip technique. You want to start with a cardbase that is 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″ – mine is Terracotta Tile and a piece of card stock that is 1/4 of sheet so its 5 1/2 x 4 1/4″ -Mine is black
Next you want to cut your strips. I used the Ornate Garden DSP. I started with a piece that was 5 1/2″ wide and cut strips. The first strip must have a straight edge.
You select how many colors you want to use and randomly cut several strips from each color alternating the angles.
You decide how wide each strip is to be cut. Just cut them randomly. When you get them all cut you you start gluing them down. I would suggest that you use a silicon mat and don not put the glue all the way to the edges like below.
You are gluing these to your black piece. the first one must be your straight edge. From there you place as you like.
Keep going across until you reach the other end. Here you want to put the glue on the black piece.
Put your last piece on and turn the whole piece over.
I promise that all of my pieces are rectangles. Its just the angle of the photo. Next you want to trim all the DSP edges off. You can use your trimmer or just cut them with scissors.
Your piece is too big for your card so you must trim it to size. I put mine on a piece of black that was cut to 5 1/4 x 4″ so your DSP piece needs to be trimmed to 5 x 3 3/4″. Play around with how much you cut from each side so you don’t cut a whole color off.
When you are ready to assemble your card put dimensionals on the back of the DSP piece and attach it to the black piece. Put dimensionals on the black piece and attach to your card base.
Decorate it as you wish. I used the Ornate Thanks stamp set for the sentiment. The flowers are from the Ornate Border dies and the leaves are from the Cherry Blossoms dies.
I used a die from the Ornate Layers dies. and ran it thru the Big Shot twice. See pictures. Sorry they are upside down.
I used a scrap that I cut off for the inside of my card.
Do a Pinterest or google search for #scrappystriptechnique cards and see many examples. If you would like to see a video of this technique I will give you the link to one by Bruno Bertucci. Please don’t use as many dimensionals as he did.
