Carousel Horses was on my order list as soon as I saw it. My oldest daughter loves and collects carousels. In fact, she and her husband have carved two full size animals, a horse and a rabbit. The horse is in her house and the rabbit, named Harvey, is on the carousel in Coolidge Park in Chattanooga, TN. So you see, I just had to have this stamp set to make some cards for her. If you are ever in Chattanooga, TN check out the carousel – it is just across the walking bridge in downtown. Harvey, aka the Tennessee Rabbit, is just to the right of center on the back row.
Ok, back to my card, I used the Carousel Horses stamp set and dies to create my card for The Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Below is the sketch challenge that I used and if you click on the picture you will be able to see everyone’s creations.
1. My card base is Poppy Parade cut to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″.
2. My next layer is Basic White and is die cut with the Deckled Rectangles dies.
3. MY three strips are 1″ wide and each one was die cut along the edge with one of the Border dies. After die cutting, i trimmed them to 3″ and I layered them on the card front.
4. Next I stamped the big horse and the pole in Tuxedo Memento Black ink.
5. I colored them with the Poppy Parade, Azure Afternoon and Granny Apple Green blends. I glued the pole while tucking it under the blocks.
6. The horse is attached with dimensionals.
7. I put on some Wink of Stella to give it some shine.
